SARASOTA, Fla. -- A Sarasota family and an accomplice have been arrested after authorities learned the father was using his sons to steal and fence stolen items.
Deputies with the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office say 39-year-old Brian Frost, his 20-year-old son Brian Jr., and a 17-year-old son, visited area Walmart stores in May and stole camping equipment and televisions totaling nearly $1,500. The group used a white Chevrolet Blazer driven by 27-year-old Jessica Romine.
During questioning deputies determined the eldest Frost also committed six residential and vehicle burglaries during which he stole weapons and about $10,000 in tools. When the family lived on Garcia Avenue in Sarasota, Frost went out at night to exploit open or unsecured garage doors and unlocked vehicles.
He then had his sons post the items on social media sites under "swap shop" pages to sell the stolen goods. The suspects said the money was used to buy meth.
Brian Frost, Sr., is charged with two counts of Grand Theft, one count of Petit Theft, two counts of Vehicle Burglary, two counts of Residential Burglary and two counts of Armed Residential Burglary.
Brian Frost, Jr., is charged with one count of Petit Theft. The other son is charged with one count of Grand Theft and one count of Principal to Grand Theft.
Romine is charged with two counts of Principal to Grand Theft and one count of Principal to Petit Theft. A number of additional charges are pending.
